"iAM Smart" Versions
Two versions of "iAM Smart", namely "iAM Smart"
and "iAM Smart+" are available.
Residents may register for "iAM Smart" or "iAM Smart+" per their needs. The difference between the two versions is that "iAM Smart+" will additionally provide digital signing function.

How to upgrade to "iAM Smart+"
Method one:
With a new smart identity (ID) card1, and a mobile phone which supports NFC (Near Field Communication) function and meets the operating system requirements2, you can use version 3.5.0 or above of the "iAM Smart" mobile app to upgrade to "iAM Smart+" on your own.
Method two:
"iAM Smart" users are required to bring along their Hong Kong ID Card in person to the self-registration kiosks, registration service counters or via mobile registration teams to perform the "iAM Smart+" upgrade procedures.

Consent of parent or guardian is required for Hong Kong residents aged from 11 to 17 to register for "iAM Smart+".

Remark:
- If residents upgrade to "iAM Smart+" through "iAM Smart" mobile app or self-registration kiosk, the accompanying parent or guardian must be "iAM Smart" User;
- If residents upgrade to "iAM Smart+" through other means, the accompanying parent or guardian must bring along his/her HKIC.
